Kuzure Yoko Shiho Gatame

Kuzure-yoko-shiho-gatame - Broken Side Four Quarters

Kuzure-yoko-gatame

Kuzure-yoko-shiho-gatame is not in the Kodokan Gokyo, and so there is often some confusion with the technique. The Kodokan refer to the above technique simply as Yoko-shiho-gatame.

In our syllabus though, the above is how the technique should be performed - although I have seen a Kuzure-mune-gatame referred to as Kuzure-yoko-shiho-gatame, so you should make yourself aware of both techniques. Your chest against your partners, your arms hold around your partners head and around their leg, holding at the skirt or belt.
