Makura-kesa-gatame - Pillow Scarf Hold
There are two recognised versions of this technique, each differing school of Judo seemingly adament that only one is correct.
1. My prefered version.
The tori holds the uki in a Kesa Gatame, but the leg of the tori nearest the mat is brought up towards and underneath the uki's head so that tori can hold onto their own leg. Considered by the Kodokan as (Hon) Kesa Gatame.
2. Alternate version.
As above, but the tori's arm moves from around uki's neck and underneath the shoulder of uki's furthest arm and then holding tori's leg from this version. Considered by the Kodokan as Kuzure Kesa Gatame.
Other names for this technique include Makura Gesa, Ura Kesa Gatame and Kashira Gatame. |
